A quiet space between familiar patterns.
Interval is an unframed contemporary Indian art print exploring the balance between ornament and simplicity. Bands of crimson, black and ivory carry repeating paisley and floral motifs, opening around a broad section of pale green edged in blue. Against a warm terracotta ground, this interval of plain cloth gives the intricate patterns room to breathe.
Reproduced from an original SAVAAI fabric collage, the print captures the weave, frayed edges and loose threads of the handmade work. Familiar textile patterns find a new expression through their arrangement—the eye drawn to the decorative bands, then settling into the calm space between them.
